World's First iPhone 3G Software SIM Unlock Now Available

The SIM unlock for the iPhone 3G is in it’s infancy and is in it’s Beta testing mode only. For this reason, we cannot guarantee it will work for all customers as it is an application that has been developed by another group of programmers and this is completely beyond our control. It is provided free of charge by the developers and we charge nothing for this item either. This is available for free when you have access to our web site.

We can simply provide details on how to use this other groups software we can take no responsibility if your unlock is unsuccessful or buggy. If you are in any doubt of whether you wish to use this software then don’t – it is your call.

2.2 Firmware Jailbroken

We are pleased to announce that we already have a working jailbreak for the 2.2 firmware – now that’s fast.

As mentioned previously, BE VERY CAREFUL WITH A JAILBREAK FROM ANY OTHER SOURCE FOR TWO REASONS:

  • ·     No one else tests this as thoroughly as we do and there are many fly by night sellers who will not give you any support when their product WILL inevitably go wrong. We are trusted sellers offering as much after sales support and technical knowledge as you require.

  • SECONDLY, AND THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT, THIS NEW UPDATE INCORPORATES AN UPDATE TO THE BASEBAND ON THE iPHONE 3G. UPDATING ANYTHING THAT WE HAVE NOT TESTED WILL MORE THAN LIKELY MEAN THAT IF YOU ARE LOOKING TO SOFTWARE SIM UNLOCK YOUR IPHONE 3G IN FUTURE THEN YOU MAY HAVE RUINED YOUR CHANCES TO DO SO. WE PRESERVE THE BASEBAND IN OUR JAILBREAK TO PROTECT THIS FOR YOU.

This can be purchased from our eBay Store or by clicking on the 'Sign Up' button at the top of this screen.

Apple Have Released iPhone Firmware Version 2.1

The iPhone 2.1 software update contains many bug fixes and improvements.

Update includes:

  • Decrease in call set-up failures and dropped calls
  • Significantly better battery life for most users
  • Dramatically reduced time to backup to iTunes
  • Improved email reliability, notably fetching email from POP and Exchange accounts
  • Faster installation of 3rd party applications
  • Fixed bugs causing hangs and crashes for users with lots of third party applications
  • Improved performance in text messaging
  • Faster loading and searching of contacts
  • Improved accuracy of the 3G signal strength display
  • Repeat alert up to two additional times for incoming text messages
  • Option to wipe data after ten failed passcode attempts

This firmware obviously can't be jailbroken just yet, so if your planning on keeping your iPhone jailbreak/unlock we'd suggest putting the update off until we have a successful jailbreak for it.

Apple Fight Back!

Apple Engineers have attempted to combat Pwnage for existing hardware by programming iTunes 8 to detect and prevent the Pwnage exploit.

The iPhone Dev Team say that they are working on a complete set of patches for all of the devices to counteract Apple's countermeasure and expect to release them by next week, and claim that they already have a patch for the iPod Touch finished.

Until then, the workaround to avoid the issue would be to downgrade to iTunes 7.7.
