Jailbreak/Unlock Questions

What is the difference between 'Jailbreak' and 'Unlock'? What do the terms mean?

'Jailbreak' = Allow the installation of 3rd party applications from sources other than Apple's official AppStore.

This allows infinite possibilities with your iPhone. You will have control over how your iPhone looks and works. You will be able to install and customise themes, sounds, icons, battery indicators, operator logos, colours, wallpapers and much, much more. You will be able to download powerful applications to enhance the way your iPhone works - including adding video capture with sound, camera effects, zoom and self-timer, games etc. Check out some of our iPhone jailbreak screenshots

'Unlock' = Remove the SIM lock from your iPhone to allow the use of other network operators SIM cards. Please note, however, there are some network operators who sometimes supply 3G ONLY SIM cards (network '3' for example). Even if your iPhone is unlocked, it is still a 2G ONLY iPhone and a 3G ONLY SIM card will not work in it - they are simply not compatible.

Can I jailbreak and unlock my iPhone 2G (original metal back)?

Yes. You can both jailbreak and unlock the iPhone 2G (original metal back). Please note, however, there are some network operators who sometimes supply 3G ONLY SIM cards (network '3' for example). Even if your iPhone is unlocked, it is still a 2G ONLY iPhone and a 3G ONLY SIM card will not work in it - they are simply not compatible.

Can I jailbreak and unlock my iPhone 3G (black or white plastic back)?

Yes and No. You can jailbreak the iPhone 3G (black or white plastic back) to allow the installation of 3rd party applications from sources other than Apple's official AppStore. However, at present there is no way of software unlocking the iPhone 3G to accept all SIM cards ANYWHERE - it just doesn't exist yet. It involves hacking the baseband of the iPhone and no one can do it yet. When it can be done, we will be adding this to our software and guides ASAP.

Yes. You can both jailbreak and unlock the iPhone 2G (original metal back) if it is currently running on firmware 1.1.4 or below. Our guide and software will upgrade you to the latest version of Apple's iPhone firmware, unlock and jailbreak it. Please note, however, there are some network operators who sometimes supply 3G ONLY SIM cards (network '3' for example). Even if your iPhone is unlocked, it is still a 2G ONLY iPhone and a 3G ONLY SIM card will not work in it - they are simply not compatible.

Will I lose my personal data (contacts, SMS, emails, music, applications) when I jailbreak/unlock my iPhone?

At the beginning of our guide, we ask the user to create a back-up with iTunes. This ensures that no data from iTunes is lost during the jailbreak/unlock process. However, if your iPhone has already been jailbroken previously and you have installed 3rd party applications from Cydia and/or Installer, these will not be retained during the update as iTunes does not store them in it's backup. There is no way around this at present.

Login/Subscription Questions

How do I get access to the jailbreak/unlock guides, files, and extras?

To access our jailbreak/unlock guides, files, and extras you first need to sign up to this service. To do this, simply click on the 'SIGN UP' icon in the menu at the top of this page.

If you have already purchased access to our jailbreak/unlock guides, files, and extras either through eBay or this web site, you will have received a password in your email. You can now use this password to gain access to our restricted area by clicking on the 'LOGIN' icon in the menu at the top of this page, and entering this password when requested.

When I try to log in, I am receiving an error message. Why is this happening?

There could be two reasons for this:

Either you entered the password incorrectly or the password has been updated since you purchased access to the restricted area.

We change the password for access to our restricted area every five days typically. Unfortunately, we have to do this to stop unscrupulous people from selling our passwords and access to our restricted area to their customers. We typically allow access to the restricted area  to our customers for five days as this is more than enough time to have used the unlock/jailbreak guides and software to successfully unlock/jailbreak their iPhone. If there has been a problem with your access, or you request an extension for your access by emailing us, then we can provide a temporary one-off extension.
